Basic Green Camp May 06

Cadets both experienced and complete novices enjoyed a Basic Green Camp held at our local training area. On arrival, the camp was set-up then the standard briefs issued. Shortly after the camp briefing, the cadets were each issued a 24hr Military Ration Pack from which they cooked their first evening meal. Later that evening, an exercise was carried out to test Fieldcraft skills learnt after dinner. On the first morning, the cadets were split into two manageable groups; each headed by a Corporal holding a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and endured an 11-mile Navigation Exercise. The cadets completed a further 6-mile Navigation Exercise on the second day making sure that the rations lasted! All the staff and especially the cadets enjoyed themselves over this weekend and there are future camps planned for later this year.
